Customers crowded into in Fridley on Friday for a Friday the 13th sale, when tattoos were only $13.
It's a deal Creative Images offers every Friday the 13th, said D.J. Binczik from behind the counter as she greeted new arrivals.
Customer No. 45 arrived at 5 p.m. Friday for a sale that started from noon to 10 p.m. On an average day, Binczik said, a tattoo artist there might have two to three appointments or seven or eight walk-ins.
A Regular
Marc Mihelich's $13 tattoo was a pair of dice on his heavily decorated left arm. The Fridley resident has a spade with the number 13 from the last Friday the 13th, in January. (There's another coming in July.)
Mihelich said he comes in "whenever I get the itch or have a couple extra bucks in my pocket." Tattoo artist Erin Torola's masterwork is on the underside of Mihelich's upper arm: a Lego zombie.
Family Expedition
The Haskins family made the trip from Cambridge, MN, for the discounted tattoos. Parents Adam and Autumn were both thinking about a cross design; Adam was also considering a pony.
Their kids—Stephen, 12; Max, 10; and Isabella, 20 months—weren't getting any ink Friday, although Isabella had a magic-marker heart on her hand. And Max expressed support for his father getting a pony.
