As Medtronic Profits Dip, New CEO Pushes Global Growth

Employees at the Fridley-based company should look to markets around the world, Omar Ishrak said.

Amid news Tuesday of quarterly earnings he called "unsatisfactory," had some words for employees of the Fridley-based company. 

Ishrak told the Star Tribune that

employees at Medtronic have to become global citizens to a large degree. They must become interested in emerging markets, experts in emerging markets and help reach those emerging markets with the management team. It’s a common charge we must all be unifed (behind) as we extend Medtronic’s mission around the world.

To the St. Paul Pioneer Press, he said that one thing that means is that employees

might be required to travel a little bit more,. ... It's a matter of leveraging what we have here and applying it globally.
