Grab & Go Kids Planner

A new Wednesday feature providing tips about when to grab the kids and where to go!

Fridley Patch assembles a weekly calendar of kid-friendly activities both locally and within sturdy stone’s throw. Look for the Grab & Go each Wednesday, and help us build the planner with your own suggestions and tips—just add them to the comment box. Patch wants to hear from you!

Family best bets of the week include animals, art and music.


Where/When: on Saturdays at 10 a.m.
Why Go: Experience the predator prey relationships and observe all the exhibit animals being fed live food. After the feeding, which typically lasts 45 minutes, observers will have the opportunity to meet one of the animals.
Price: Free

ROCK THE CRADLE
Where/When: The Children’s Theatre Company/Minneapolis Institute of Arts (2400 Third Ave. S., Minneapolis) on Sunday, Feb. 20 from 11 a.m.–5 p.m.
Why Go: The Current’s annual kids event is full of story time readings, live music, puppets, live performances, musical instrument petting zoo, family yoga, plants, snacks and more. Check the website for an updated schedule of events with exact locations.
Price: Free


Where/When: on Saturday, Feb. 19 from 1–3:30 p.m.
Why Go: Check out the annual exhibition of art by local students and enjoy the reception put on by the Center.
Price: No cost for the Art Center galleries.


Where/When: The on Tuesday, Feb. 22 from 10–11 a.m.
Why Go: The Playful Polliwog group invites children aged 3–5 years old, accompanied by an adult, to explore nature through stories, crafts, outdoor discovery and other hands-on activities. It's just part of this 127-acre, city-owned preserve, offering an oasis for wildlife and human visitors.
Price: $3 per child


Where/When: Mississippi Branch Library on Tuesdays at 11 a.m.
Why Go: It’s a great opportunity to introduce the glorious world of books to your baby (2 years and under).
Price: Free, but please call 763-571-1934 or stop by the library to register.
