Anoka County Library Public Art Dedication

The public is invited to an Art dedication that features the work of Anoka County's very own artists.

A note from the Anoka County Library;

Anoka County Library is proud to feature the work of local artists who participated in the Live at the Library county-wide celebration of the arts.  These artists created 15 pieces of art highlighting libraries and the communities they serve.  Local landmarks are captured in some of the pieces--Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts, Coon Rapids Dam, Rice Creek, and the Rum River, as well as several library buildings and grounds.  Other pieces portray life in our county through winter landscape and local flora and fauna.  All of the artwork captures a bit of the essence of Anoka County.

“Our libraries are community gathering places where Anoka County residents come to find a good book, get the information they need, use computers with internet access, or attend an educational program,” said Anoka County Commissioner Jim Kordiak, who is also the Library Liaison.  “The library is the perfect place to showcase our local Anoka County talent.”

To honor our communities and serve as a reminder of our local talent, these pieces will be installed in our libraries after the dedication, where they will be enjoyed by visitors to our libraries for years to come.

“We are privileged to have many talented artists living in our community that have been willing to share their talents with us,” said Library Board Member, Jane Daniels.   “Now we, the Anoka County Library, through the Legacy Funding, are able to share their work with everyone.  I hope someone will be encouraged to follow their dreams, pick up a paint brush and start painting.”

This artwork was funded with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.  To take a virtual view of the artwork, or for more information, visit our website at www.anoka.lib.mn.us.
