Maple Grove Continues to Clean Up After Sunday Snow Storm

Traffic - Around 6:45 p.m., the Minnesota Department of Transportation issued a report stating: Between I-494 (Eagan) and I-94 (Maple Grove). Driving conditions are difficult. Be prepared for light snow. Look out for plowed snow on the roadway.
Plowing - Crews were plowing throughout the day Sunday, according to City Administrator Al Madsen. Drivers were taken off the road to rest before resuming plowing at midnight.
"Storms like this take a toll on drivers due to fatigue," Madsen said in an email to Patch, stating they were "working hard to keep up" and "working overtime to get the job done."
Accidents - Per the Minnesota State Patrol, statewide since 9:30 last night- 301 crashes (32 involving injuries, no fatal) 330 vehicles off road/vehicle spin outs in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.
Snow totals - According to the National Weather Service, Maple Grove has received 8.6 inches of snow as of 3:31 p.m. Unofficial results reported by Maple Grove Patch users states 12 inches of snow near the Bass Lake Road/Interstate 94 area and 10 inches of snow in northern Maple Grove, as of about 6:45 p.m.

Maple Grove continues to be under Winter Storm Warning on Sunday, Dec. 9, according to the National Weather Service, with "blizzard conditions expected across western Minnesota this afternoon and evening."
The winter storm warning continues until midnight, according to the National Weather Service website. Heavy snow is expected to taper off this evening with a few snow showers remaining. Winds "will increase from the northwest with drifting snow lingering this evening."
The total expected snowfall from the winter storm is forecast to come in between 9-12 inches.
Plows have been working to clear Maple Grove's approximately 300 miles of roadway.
A reminder to residents, according to the Maple Grove city website:
Parking on city streets is prohibited following a snowfall of 2" or greater until the roadway has been cleared curb-to-curb. In addition, parking on city streets is prohibited from 2:00 a.m. - 6:00 a.m. year round.
