What to Do about Duds and Other Fireworks Safety Tips

Take care, stay legal and have fun.

Here are a few fireworks safety tips for the Fourth of July.

  • Only use fireworks that are legal in Minnesota.
  • Always keep water handy.
  • Only use fireworks outdoors.
  • Never re-light a “dud.” Wait 15 minutes soak it in water, then discard.
  • Only people over the age of 12 should be allowed to use sparklers.
  • Alcohol and fireworks don’t mix. Have a designated person light the fireworks.
  • Always use common sense.
  • Keep at a safe distance.
  • Be considerate of your neighbors.
