(Original post) Fridley and several other cities in the Twin Cities late this morning lost power with Xcel Energy reporting about 12,500 customers were without electric service. An Xcel Energy spokesman told the Star Tribune that as of about 12:30 p.m. all but a couple thousand customers had their electric service restored. The cause for the power outage was not immediately known. Fridley Patch readers said Fridley High School and Hayes Elementary School were among places in the community that lost power.
