Our son and DIL got through this hurricane, as they did through Irene, sheltered in their inner apartment in Queens. They had enough batteries, water, etc., and they were careful to keep an eye on local notices. Enough credit cannot be given to the officials in this and to the rescue workers. The death numbers were horrible, but thanks to these people, they were not worse.
