Plan on 'Christmas in the 1970s' at the Fridley History Center
New Fridley Historical Society exhibit opens Nov. 10.
The Fridley Historical Society has a treat in store for visitors in November and December when we present the exhibit, Christmas in the 1970s in the lower level of our museum. Yes, there will be plenty of harvest gold and avocado on display, as well as a caftan or two, a copy of Jonathan Livingston Seagull, several '70s Christmas ornaments, and many additional objects in our 70s vignette that are sure to jar your memories of the “Me Decade.” Details of the exhibit follow.
When: Our museum will be open for visitors 12 times before Christmas:
Each Saturday afternoon November 10—December 15 from 11:00 to 3:00

and each Tuesday afternoon November 13—December 18 from 2:00 to 4:00.
There will be interactive activities for children and adults. Visitors can play 70s board games, listen to '70s records (requests taken!), and answer trivia questions. Be prepared for a surprise or two.

The Grand Opening will be Saturday, November 10 from 11:00 to 3:00. Come and enjoy refreshments and take part in a 70s Christmas craft activity.
Each Tuesday, 2–4 p.m., we will servee Russian tea (so popular in the 1970s) and Christmas treats.
Note: The exhibit will be open the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend. If the kids and grandkids are in town for the holiday, bring them over. They’ll love it!
There is no admission charge for this exhibit and the Fridley History Center is handicap accessible, so come and relive the 1970s. If you wear your platform shoes, we promise there will be someone there to help you get back up!
