Horseback Riding in Three Rivers Park District

Find out where you can hit the trails and an upcoming event for youth.

Are you looking for a place to go horseback riding? Although Three Rivers Park District does not rent horses, community members can obtain a horseback riding pass to hit the trails with their horse, good at six different horseback riding trails throughout the west metro.

As of June 28, the following trails are open in Three Rivers Park District: Murphy-Hanrehan Park Reserve in Savage, Elm Creek Park Reserve in Maple Grove, Crow-Hassan Park Reserve in Hanover and Carver Park Reserve in Victoria.

Trails at Baker Park Reserve in Medina and Lake Rebecca Park Reserve in Rockford are closed as of June 28, 2013, according to the Three Rivers Park District website.

When: 9:30 a.m. to noon, Friday, July 12, 2013

Where: Baker Park Reserve, Medina

Who: Ages 6-13

Cost: $25, reservations required. Call 763-559-6700 to make a reservation and reference activity number #390611-31.

Why go: This program consists of instruction on the level of safety required while being around horses, how horses and humans interact, herd behavior, and horse management. Participants will tour the Equine Center, meet and greet with the horses, learn how to properly groom a horse, and take a short ride on a staff-led horse in one of our arenas.
