Why Go: Welcome home the Fridley boys as they kick off against the Chisago Lakes Wildcats.

Why Go: The Anoka County Historical Society invites you to a traditional 1950's Sock Hop, where the TC Cats will provide rock and roll hits from the 50s and 60s.

When: Saturday, Oct. 8 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why Go: As part of Fire Prevention Week, the Fridley Fire Department invites the community to Fire Station 1 for the grease fire simulator, vehicle extrication demonstration, free blood pressure checks, testing out equipment and other family oriented activities.

When: Saturday, Oct. 8 & Sunday, Oct. 9 from 12 to 4 p.m.

Why Go: Visitors can take a nature and history tour of the grounds that is sure to be filled with painters in the park and poets in action. Interested folk are encouraged to partake in the native and pioneer crafts, live animal drawing session (for kids), and other artsy activities.

Why Go: Adults are invited to sample food from local eateries, enjoy a cash bar and music in support of the Totino-Grace E'gals Dance Team.
