Fridley Wood Debris Stacking Up as Planned at Columbia Arena

The City of Fridley program to from the is going "reasonably well," according to Director of Public Works Jim Koslucher.

After a two-day break, the program resumes Tuesday at 8 a.m.

"Residents can move their tree waste to the curb prior to next Tuesday
and boulevard pickup will be honored," Kosluchar said by email Friday. "After that, when we move through an area we will be done with that area."

The program are designed to serve , so pickups are restricted to those areas and residents dropping off wood debris should bring ID. 

On Friday afternoon, a steady stream of resident, contractor and city vehicles arrived at the Columbia Arena lot to drop off wood. Bob and Sandy Locker, who live on Onondaga Street, unloaded debris from what Sandy said was Bob's golf trailer.

Minding the entrance to the north end of the Columbia Arena lot were volunteers Lindsey Bauer and Steve Lacey, who work nearby at Cummins Power Generation. They had signed up for a three-and-a-half hour shift, and said others from Cummins were covering other shifts.

A big map showing the affected addresses in Fridley hung on the wall inside their booth—the Cummins property included.

"There were tons of trees down," Bauer said. "We were shocked when we came in on Monday morning."
