Fridley Girl's Fundraiser for State Epilepsy Foundation Tops $1,000

Kayla and her supporters have raised more than $25,000 during the past five years for the Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota.

Seventeen-year-old Kayla Borman's daily battle with epileptic seizures is the lemon in her life.
But the Fridley girl's determination to turn lemons into lemonade took literal shape earlier this month: She raised more than $1,000 from her sixth annual Lemonade Fundraiser for the Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota
"We had fewer people here this year than last, but raised almost the same amount" of money, Linda Borman, Kayla's mother, told Fridley Patch. "Last year was $1550; this year $1531."

The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Schaaf Floral shop, 6554 University Ave.

During the past five years, Kayla and her supporters have raised more than $25,000 for the Epilepsy Foundation, with a big chunk of that money coming  from the annual lemonade event, Linda said.
