Fridley Area Faith Community Responds to CT School Shooting

Here are a couple statements from local churches on the mass shooting at Friday. Please add others you know of in comments—or add your own comments.

St. Philip's Lutheran Church, Fridley (on Facebook):

Please pray for the students and all others in Newtown, CT, in light of today's tragic school shooting. Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy, Lord have mercy.

Together we call on our God to bring peace and hope when tragedy strikes. No words will make sense of this ever so we pray for all impacted by the shootings today.

North Heights Lutheran Church, Arden Hills and Roseville (on Facebook):

Fellow Followers of Jesus,

I’m asking you to join me in prayer for the victims, families, and the entire town of Newtown, CT in the wake of the horrific shootings that took place earlier today. This is the second tragedy of this nature in the past week, the first being in Oregon. There have been many in recent years.

As Christians we join together in crying out to the Lord for His intervention. We cry out to the Lord for His strength. We cry out to the Lord for His mercy. We cry out to the Lord for His healing. We cry out to the Lord to bring an end to the violence that has gripped our land.

Tomorrow (Saturday) morning at 10:30am, North Heights will be joining together for a time of prayer. I invite you to come to the Roseville Fellowship Hall as we raise our voices and cry out to the Lord.
