Springbrook Tornado--25 Years Later

Springbrook Tornado—25 Years Later: On July 17, Springbrook Nature Center will commemorate the 25th anniversary of the July 18, 1986 tornado.  This widely photographed tornado spent 16 minutes in Springbrook Nature Center, bringing national attention to Springbrook, but taking several years to clean up, with the loss of thousands of century old trees and extensive areas of mature forest habitat.  Come to Springbrook on July 17, noon-4pm to learn how Springbrook recovered from the 1986 tornado, hear the experience of those who were there, and learn more about tornados. There will be games for kids, food and free ice cream.   Admission is $2 in advance and $3 at the door. One dollar of each admission will be used to help those affected by the May 22, 2011 tornado.  For more information go to www.springbrooknaturecenter.org
