Snowshoeing Basics at Elm Creek Park Reserve

Sunday, January 20, from 1-4 p.m., at Eastman Nature Center, in Elm Creek Park Reserve, Dayton, for an introduction to the great winter sport of snowshoeing.
Staff from REI will conduct a formal “basics of snowshoeing” presentation on the hour at 1, 2, and 3 p.m. to teach the fundamentals of snowshoeing and answer questions. Different styles of snowshoes will be available to observe, use, and compare. Then try out a pair of snowshoes on a guided hike (weather permitting).
Snowshoe hike provided on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Wear warm, sturdy boots; no tennis shoes.
Cost is $5 and this program is for ages 5+.

Elm Creek Park Reserve, which spans 4,900 acres in Maple Grove and neighboring cities, is the largest park in the Three Rivers park system. Patrons can partake in summer activities at the swimming pond and outdoor play area in addition to hiking and biking.
