Fridley High School at State One Act Play Festival

2004 Randolph Ave, Saint Paul, MN | Get Directions »
$10.00

Fridley High School students perform The Yellow Boat by David Saar, their entry in the State One Act Play Festival, at 3:15 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at O'Shaughnessy Auditorium, St. Catherine University, 2004 Randolph Ave., St. Paul.

Scores of the state's most promising actors and actresses will take to the stage performing 16 one act plays this Thursday and Friday, Feb. 7 and 8, at St. Catherine University's O'Shaughnessy Auditorium in St. Paul during the 65th annual State One Act Play festival.

The plays are limited to no more than 35 minutes, following a maximum 10-minute stage set-up. Total cast and crew cannot exceed 20 students. It is a festival — not a competition. However, each production will be judged and publicly critiqued immediately following each performance. Each cast will attempt to achieve an exceptional rating known as a "starred performance." In 2012, for example, seven of the 16 plays, four from Class AA and three from Class A, were awarded "starred performance" ratings.

Congratulations to this extraordinary group of young adults under the direction of two amazing men who worked hard for this honor and it all came to it's just rewards as they STARRED at State! As a parent there to support my daughter, I was so proud to be part of the Fridley School Community and the support of the Administration of the District and the HIgh School. Not only did they allow a "fan bus" of Fridley Student to go and support this team, the High School Principal, Activities Director and Superintendent all came to attemd the performance. It is so great to see this show of support for an Arts activity. The youth involved are as dedicated and work just as hard as any of the sports teams, but rarely get the same support. Thank you Mr. Dutcher, Mr. Wold and the Teachers and Administration at Fridley!
