Congressman Ellison Sends Message to Vets: Thanks for Nothing

This past Sunday we taped the KSTP debate with Tom Hauser. During the debate Congressman Keith Ellison demonstrated he has no clue of what it means to be a veteran nor does he understand the key reasons why veterans sacrifice so much to serve our country.

According to Ellison and his campaign staff, wearing a military uniform for the United States is the equivalent of doing nothing for local communities. That line of thinking is just pure dumb and they continue to say it over and over again on social media sites like Twitter because they are clueless.

"It's incredible that somebody who has never done anything for the North Side can attack somebody who has dedicated their whole life to it," Congressman Keith Ellison recently stated in reference to me.

Not only do I disagree with that but I am certain that the families of our fallen servicemembers in Minnesota and throughout our country disagree with that.

I served for more than two decades as a United States Marine. I did so for a number of reasons. One of which was because I knew my service would set a positive example for many urban youth who grow up and have few opportunities.

Keith Ellison doesn’t value service like that. He believes that people, who wear our country’s uniform and serve as a positive role model, have no right to say they have made sacrifices for their communities.

Congressman Ellison's message to veterans: Thanks for Nothing! I fully recognize and accept that calling Ellison out on his dismal record of failure has made him feel desperate and bitter about having to defend his lack of focus.

Since he’s been in office he has not focused on this district, jobs, nor on closing the unemployment gap or the achievement gap that exists between blacks and whites.

Since retiring I have mobilized the 5th Congressional District GOP around the idea that when we work together we all benefit. I am ready to lead the effort to bring people together and bring about positive change.

Congressman Ellison has failed to deliver solutions in part because he is entrenched in the war on common sense and fails to recognize the value that good people like servicemembers bring to the table.

If I'm elected I will provide the focused attention and leadership needed to move us forward. We can do great things when we Come Together.

About Chris Fields

Chris Fields is the alternative to Keith Ellison in Minnesota’s Fifth Congressional District.  Chris is a retired combat veteran who honorably served his country for more than 21 years in the United States Marine Corps.  His message of reform, responsibility, and accountability is encouraging people from diverse backgrounds and political persuasions to Come Together to support a leader that will make real and tangible changes to a broken political system.

And the illogical leaps abound.....

"It's incredible that somebody who has never done anything for the North Side can attack somebody who has dedicated their whole life to it," Congressman Keith Ellison recently stated in reference to me

Specifically, Mr. Fields, how have you worked directly for the North Side of Minneapolis? By your logic (delusion), your military service provides you an entrance into any congresssional district, senate race in the US, or by your thinking the President of the United States. Although I can appreciate your service, your service does not automatically qualify you to be the heralded hero of my district nor any other. You might best represent districts in which you have lived and worked longer than 18 months.

You, in my opinion, Mr. Fields are an opportunist. You researched places where a Black male who is endorsed by the Republican party can make a show of himself by running for Congress. I have no doubt that you desire to win but it is not to win for CD5; it is to win for you and your trophy case. As most opportunists, this race is about you, your name, your jumping off point.

Your sole focus right now is merely your run for Congress. You can dedicate 100% of your time on you and your run. You have no other job, career direction, projects. Your current life is about you and it shows. Again, how have you directly served CD5? Which is different than how you directly served your country, which I believe is Ellison's point.

Chris Fields is indeed an excellent role model. He is competing for the office of Congressman, and doing a great job. Running for office is about providing a vision, and leading, and he's doing both.

What is Rep Ellison's vision, beyond following the lead of the DFL, raising taxes, and fostering dependency?

Ms Pound may not know how much work it is to run for congress. It's more than a full time job, and anything less is a recipe for failure.

It is inappropriate, and low, to attack Mr Fields' motives. I suppose that is all Ms Pound has since what Mr Fields is speaking the truth. Let's talk issues.

Not sure what he is saying here? I am often confused with some of his accusations. He doesn't know that Keith Ellison has voted for very good programs for vets?

Keith is a loser. His record proves this. He is desperate to win because he will be jobless or underemployed like so many. Fields will lay down his life for us. hmmm, more trustworthy in my eyes.

Ditto. Keith Ellison needs to go. He has demonstrated to me that he has no respect for anyone other than the DFL party which is full of bloated career politicians. Keith Ellison, Senator Linda Higgins and Senator Ann Rest, all deserve a big VOTE NO!!!

I know Congressman Ellison well enough to know that his father is a veteran from WWII, and the GI Bill provided an opportunity for the Ellison Family to move up the educational and economic ladder. Congressman Ellison is working to preserve that opportunity for 21st Century military families, along with other benefit programs like Social Security. He shows up for local Memorial Day programs, and is accessible to his constituents. "Everybody counts; everybody matters." it's about We the People.
