You Can Help Cat, Family Who Lost Home in Park Plaza Co-op Fire
Where to make donations for Mitten the kitten and Onondaga Way family.
You can donate to help a Fridley family and their cat who lost their home in a March 19 fire.
Mittens the kitten suffered burns to his paws and face, and remains in an Inver Grove Heights animal hospital. Southview Animal Hospital will accept donations toward the cost of his care from donors over the phone at 651-455-2258.
WCCO-TV reported that a fund has been set up to help Ralph Manzi, Tammy Mateykiewicz and their two grandchildren recover from the fire. Send donations to: Ralph Manzi Fire Fund, Teamster’s Credit Union, 9422 Ulysses St. NE, Building 140, Blaine, MN 55434.
Investigators were still trying to determine the cause of the fire as of last Friday. See a Facebook video of the fire here.
Neighbor Natividad Seefeld, board chair at the Park Plaza Co-op manufactured home park, said by email this week that she would take in Mittens when he leaves the hospital.
"I spoke with the family on Saturday and it was so hard for all of us to stop the tears," Seefeld said. "We are blessed by this family being in our community and would love for them to stay in it."
