UPDATED: Amy Senser Gets 41 Months; Compare to Sentences in Fridley Cases

Here is how people convicted in recent high-profile Fridley-related cases were sentenced.

Update (10:10 a.m.): Amy Senser was sentenced to 41 months in prison, according to KARE11—the low end of state sentencing guidelines for criminal vehicular homicide.

Original post (9:30 a.m.): People are watching Monday morning for the sentencing of Amy Senser for the hit-and-run death of Anousone Phanthavong. The question: Does the punishment fit the crime?

For comparison's sake, here are some sentences in Fridley-related cases over the last 18 months:

  • 10 YEARS IN PRISON for Timothy LaMere for his role in the March 17, 2011, overdose death of Trevor Robinson at Unity Hospital in Fridley, from taking the synthetic drug 2C-E at a house party in Blaine.
  • Does the punishment fit the crime in Amy Senser's sentence?

Only 11 months less than killing a dog! Obviously it pays to be wealthy. She killed him, drunk and lied about it. 41 mths. should have been at least 20 years!

Holly Boyd's sentence for killing her dog was probation, not jail. I probably should make that distinction a little clearer in the post. One commenter on Facebook said these Fridley cases really aren't comparable. Do you agree?

I'd say she got off light when the typical sentence for drunk driving manslaughter is "About 15 years"
