ORKO: Winter Storm Warning for Fridley
As Nemo recedes in Northeast, Orko looms for Midwest. The NWS Warning goes into effect at midnight Saturday.

A Watch has turned to a Winter Storm Warning for Fridley and the rest of Anoka County, as other Minnesota counties.
The National Weather Service upgraded its earlier Winter Storm Watch to a Warning Saturday afternoon. The warning is in effect from midnight Saturday to 6 a.m. Monday.
The storm the Weather Channel has dubbed Winter Storm Orko won't dump nearly the quantity of snow that its predecessor, Winter Storm Nemo, dumped on New England this weekend.
But Orko will hit us reasonably hard, with as much as eight inches of snow by Monday morning. In the words of the National Weather Service, this will be a "SIGNIFICANT WINTER STORM."
Snow accumulations of four to eight inches are possible in locations across Hennepin, Anoka, Ramsey and Washington counties, as well as western Wisconsin, with accumulations increasing from south to north.
Because temperatures on Sunday will hover right around the freezing point, however, the National Weather Service says “there is still uncertainty” about just how much snow may stick. What is certain right now: Monday morning’s commute is likely to be a sloppy mess.
A wintry mix of snow, freezing rain and sleet should start falling late tonight, transitioning to a mix of rain and snow during Sunday, then switching to heavy snow at some point Sunday afternoon. Strong winds on Sunday night will blow the snow around, creating hazardous travel conditions.
