Weather Whiplash: How High Will We Go Before Temps Crash?
Bask in another January thaw while you can.
Just another balmy midwinter day in January ... before we plunge into the deepest deep-freeze we've had in a while.
By Monday night it will be 12 below zero, the National Weather Service predicts.
The first photo here, at TCF Bank in Fridley, was taken around 2 p.m. Friday: 42 degrees above zero.
The second photo was at 11 a.m. Friday: 37 degrees above zero.
The third photo, showing 16 degrees below zero, is from Fridley resident Laurie Buck. She said the date was Jan. 21, 2011—a reminder that we have had a few pretty cold days even if the past few winters have been generally warmer than average.
