(VIDEO) Bernardy at MN Capitol: 'Focus on What's Common'
Connie Bernardy is returning to the MN House of Representatives for the new session starting Tuesday.
In a video interview with Minnesota House of Representatives Public Information Services, incoming state Rep. Connie Bernardy (DFL-41A) talked about what she heard from people in Fridley, Spring Lake Park and New Brighton while campaigning:
What I heard going door to door, through running for this office, [is] people really are tired of the gridlock and the extreme politics down here at the Capitol. And they really want to be able to bring people together to make Minnesota a better place to live.
Bernardy said she hoped the Legislature would focus on "bread and butter issues":
If we focus on those things that really make Minnesota strong, I think people will be happy with what we worked on. Rather than the divisive social issues and the gridlock, just work together and focus on what's common. Doesn't matter if we're Democrats or Republicans—we're all Minnesotans and we care about our state and we want to make it as successful as possible.
