Star Tribune Looks at Erin Brockovich's Coming Visit to Fridley
No conclusive answers expected at June 27 citizen meeting; Patch blogger and interactive map cited.
Consumer advocate Erin Brockovich's upcoming visit to Fridley is the occasion for a Star Tribune article posted online Saturday night.
The article includes the rise of the Fridley Cancer Cluster page on Facebook, as well as the responses of state and local officials to citizen concerns about whether pollution and public health problems are linked.
Brockovich will not have answers when she holds a townhall-style meeting at Fridley High School on June 27, according to what her investigator Bob Bowcock told the Star Tribune:
Robert Bowcock, who works with her as an environmental investigator, said the pair have not reached any conclusions about the Fridley case yet. ... So far, he said no pattern of has emerged in terms of the types of cancers that people are reporting.
The Star Tribune mentions Fridley Patch's interactive map of cancer cases in Fridley and links to the Fridley Patch "heat map" of local cancer cases, based on the interactive map.
The Star Tribune article also quotes Fridley resident and Fridley Patch blogger Mandy Meisner, who wrote Fridley Patch blog posts on the topic in April ("Cancer Comes to Fridley") and again in June ("Waiting for Erin Brockovich").
