Rick Santorum To Speak Near Fridley on Tuesday

The GOP presidential candidate will be at Blaine's National Sports Center.

Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum will appear at a campaign event Tuesday about four miles north of Fridley.

Santorum will hold a rally at the National Sports Center in Blaine at 3 p.m.

The former Pennsylvania senator's event will take place in the National Sports Center's Schwan Center Grand Hall, 1700 105th Ave. NE, just east of Highway 65.

Santorum's rally comes on Precinct Caucus Day in Minnesota, just hours before political parties hold caucus meetings that include non-binding straw polls to gauge presidential candidate preference.

The latest poll, by Public Policy Polling (PPP), has Santorum with a slight lead among Republicans in Minnesota.

U.S. Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) held his own presidential campaign rally just east of Fridley on Saturday at Bethel University in Arden Hills. People arriving just before the start of that event were turned away because the 1,500-seat hall was filled to capacity.
