UPDATED (VIDEO): Spring Lake Park Townhome Burns
Explosions and a car on fire in attached garage, according to emergency radio and media and social media reports.
Update (8:30 a.m. Monday): Everyone got out safely from a fire at a Spring Lake Park townhome Sunday night that appeared to have started in the attached garage, according to reports from local news media and social media and emergency radio.
Video from KARE-11 shows a charred SUV, heavy smoke and damage to the townhome in the 1300 block of Crown Oaks Drive, just north of Fridley.
When crews arrived on the scene, the garage door was partially caved in and the fire was spreading up the townhouse to the second floor.
The couple and their dog made it out safely.
Firefighters were able keep the fire from spreading to the other eight attached townhouses.
The fire chief says there is extensive damage inside the home, but neighboring units only had exterior damage.
Officials aren't sure what caused the fire, or the explosion, saying it could have been a car tire popping.
