The St. Paul Pioneer Press reported Friday that Chisago Lakes High School will follow St. Francis and North Branch high schools out of the North Suburban Conference to the Mississippi 8 Conference.
Half of the remaining North Suburban schools are either in Fridley or are in districts that include parts of the city of Fridley: Spring Lake Park, Columbia Heights, Totino-Grace, Fridley. The other four are Benilde-St. Margaret's, Irondale, Robbinsdale Cooper and St. Louis Park. (Totino-Grace's football program opted up to Class 5A and is currently part of the Northwest Suburban Conference.)
Chisago Lakes plans to make the move in 2013, the Pioneer Press report said, with a Sept. 1 deadline for notifying the North Suburban Conference of its intended departure.
