Pizza-contest Winner Wolfs Down All but One Crust

You could pick him out in the lineup of 10 pizza-eating contestants at '49er Days Friday: Mark Pederson had the look of a man with a plan.
While others tried stacking slices of pizza sandwich-style, or stuffing their cheeks like chipmunks, Pederson focused on a steady pace of intake, punctuated with slurps of water and moments devoted to chewing and digestion.
The challenge of the contest, sponsored by Broadway Pizza, was to eat as much pizza as possible in 10 minutes. Each contestant had a pizza in front of him or her. Only Pederson came within a crust of putting it away completely.
