Quarter-sized hail fell on at least parts of Fridley at about 5:30 a.m. Saturday. Laurie Buck sent photos as proof. "More fun than my alarm," she said.

It was so loud, I thought, I wouldn't be surprised if it's out there denting the street and knocking down trees! Holy hail!

I thought my roof was going to cave in.. New York was on my mind.. Never in all the 40 yrs I have lived here have I ever heard or seen such hail. It was a fast loud downpour of large hail, stayed in my backyard till late afternoon. Shirley.

It was amazing that it only lasted 20 min but it covered my yard like snow. The sound on the roof was crazy.
