Monday Temps, Winds Brutal; Morning-Commute Roads 'Fair' in Twin Cities

The dropping temp was 12.2° F in Blaine at 6 a.m. MnDOT rated roads around Fridley as 'fair' for winter driving.

 

The snow is mostly done falling around Fridley—now it's the temperature's turn.

Temperatures nearby in Blaine dropped overnight, hitting 12.2° F at 6 a.m. with 9 mile per hour winds.

MnDOT rated road conditions on most Twin Cities highways as "fair," although side streets could be another story. (You can also check Patch's Commute map.)

Schools and school districts including or in the city of Fridley had not announced closures or late starts as of 6 a.m. (as kids predicted on Twitter).

The general advice is to bundle up and layer winter clothing, and to leave lots of time to travel and take it easy on the speeds.
