MN WIND CHILL WARNING: 'Dangerous,' 'Coldest Air of the Season'
Fridley and Anoka County are included in the National Weather Service's wind chill advisory this weekend.
Bundle up. Stay in. Watch out.
The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory for a small part of Minnesota that includes Fridley. It starts at midnight Saturday and continues through 11 a.m. Sunday.
Anoka County is one of eight counties included in the wind chill advisory area. Here is some of what the National Weather Service said in the advisory issued at 4:20 a.m. Saturday:
THE COMBINATION OF NORTHWEST WINDS AND TEMPERATURES DROPPING BELOW ZERO WILL CAUSE DANGEROUS WIND CHILLS ... A WIND CHILL ADVISORY MEANS THAT VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE LOW WIND CHILLS. THIS WILL RESULT IN FROST BITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN. IF YOU MUST VENTURE OUTDOORS ... MAKE SURE YOU WEAR A HAT AND GLOVES.
Not only that, there is a plain old wind advisory for the Fridley area too, starting at noon through 9 p.m. Saturday:
AN ARCTIC COLD WILL PUSH ACROSS CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN MINNESOTA ... AND WEST CENTRAL WISCONSIN LATE THIS MORNING AND EARLY AFTERNOON. NORTHWEST WINDS IN THE WAKE OF THE FRONT WILL INCREASE TO 25 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 50 MPH. THE WINDS WILL SLOWLY DIMINISH SATURDAY EVENING.
