Man Charged with Assaulting Woman Who Then Threw Puppies at Him

She was charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty; the puppies weren't hurt.

The man who was the target of a woman throwing puppies in Fridley Wednesday faces a charge of third-degree assault for hitting her.

The woman said David Peter Remme hit her two or three times with a closed fist, breaking her nose and giving her a black eye, according a statement from Fridley Police Detective Andrew Todd that is part of the criminal complaint against Remme (see PDF).

The woman, Gabrielle Allen, also faces a misdemeanor charge of animal cruelty for throw three pit bull puppies at Remme after he hit her, according to Fridley Police Lt. Mike Monsud.

The puppies were unharmed, Monsrud said, meaning Allen avoided a more serious felony charge of animal cruelty like Holly Boyd faced for throwing a Chihuahua puppy in a separate incident that occurred in Fridley almost a year to the day before Wednesday's incidents.
