Islamic University of Minnesota Moving to Fridley

A special use permit requires all parking to be on-site, the Sun Focus reported.

Soon a person could—in theory—receive an Islamic education from kindergarten to Ph.D. without leaving Fridley.

The Islamic University of Minnesota is moving up the street, from Central Avenue NE in northeast Minneapolis to the former Knights of Columbus building on Highway 65 in Fridley, according to the Sun Focus.

The IUMN website carries the announcement that "the Islamic University of MN got the city's final approval for the new building located in Fridley."

The Fridley City Council approved a special use permit for the building on March 11, 2013, the Sun Focus reported:

The main worship time will be on Fridays between noon and 2 p.m., Alamy said. There could be 150 to 300 worshipers there during that time, depending on the maximum occupancy allowed by the building and fire code, as well as the amount of parking stalls available on site.
