Fridley Police Blotter for Dec. 16–22
'Tis the season when a snowblower can go missing from a garage stall.
This is a selection of police activity from Dec. 16–22 as compiled by the City of Fridley Police Department.
- A snowblower was reported stolen Dec. 16 from a garage stall in the 7800 block of East River Road.
- Officers took a man to detox on Dec. 16 after responding to a report of a domestic situation at an address in the 6100 block of University Avenue NE that they found doesn't exist. The actual address was in the 5200 block of Third Avenue NE.
- Police arrested a man for domestic assault on Dec. 16 in the 1200 block of 72nd Avenue NE.
- A Dec. 16 report of a possibly violent domestic dispute in the 5000 block of Third Street NE turned out to be only a three-way verbal argument, according to those involved.
- One driver was cited for not yielding to another after a Dec. 16 crash at 79th Avenue NE and Main Street NE that left two people with minor injuries.
- A reported suspicious vehicle on the 600 block of Marigold Terrace NE had vanished by the time police arrived Dec. 16.
- Police picked up a stray cat from the 100 block of Island Park Drive on Dec. 16.
- A school bus driver reported Dec. 16 that every morning at 6:45 a.m., vehicles fail to obey the stop sign on his bus on the 1600 block of 73rd Avenue NE.
- A delivery driver for the Jimmy Johns restaurant at 5201 Central Ave. NE received three counterfeited $20 bills on Dec. 16.
- A car had minor damage after being struck in a hit-and-run Dec. 16, ending up in a snowbank along East River Road near 77th Way NE.
- An officer mediated a dispute between siblings over loud music in the 5900 block of Third Street NE on Dec. 16.
- Police left a suspect two voicemail messages after a Dec. 16 complaint from a person in the 6500 block of Channel Road NE about a harassing message.
- A crash at 81st Avenue NE and Main Street NE on Dec. 16 left both vehicles with significant damage and one driver with leg pain.
- A male was taken from the 5800 block of Fifth Street NE to detox on Dec. 16.
- During a Dec. 16 traffic stop near Riverfront Park, police found no evidence of reported lewd behavior in a vehicle.
- A hit-and-run driver was reported to have rear-ended another vehicle on Dec. 16 at Monroe Street NE and Mississippi Street NE.
- A group of five suspected shoplifters were gone by the time police arrived Dec. 16 at the CVS store on University Avenue.
- A suspected shoplifter returned items to shelves at the Target store on 53rd Avenue NE on Dec. 16 and won't be allowed back.
- An officer mediated a Dec. 16 verbal domestic dispute in the 500 block of 57th Avenue NE.
- K-9 Nitro found a very small amount of marijuana buds in a vehicle at a traffic stop in the 6000 block of University Avenue NE on Dec. 16.
- Investigation of a domestic assault by strangulation Dec. 17 in the 5800 block of East River Road led to a search for a suspect and a pickup.
- A caller reported a smashed window and theft of compact discs from a vehicle Dec. 17 in the 1200 block of East Moore Lake Drive.
- A suspected prowler left footprints in the snow Dec. 17 but didn't do damage or take anything from a garage in the 5600 block of Fifth Street NE.
- The Eye Care Center on East Moore Lake Drive reported $900 of optical frames stolen Dec. 17.
- Police will review Dec. 17 reports from a complainant in the 1000 block of South Circle NE who said a former roommate stole money. The complainant also said he found out the former roommate is a convicted felon—after selling the former roommate a gun.
- Police arrested a female for theft of $226.12 of merchandise from the Target store on 53rd Avenue NE on Dec. 17.
- A driver with an outstanding warrant went to jail Dec. 17 after police stopped the vehicle for driving without headlights in the 7400 block of Highway 65.
- A student at Fridley High School reported Dec. 17 that another student failed to return an iPod.
- A suspected armed robber who displayed a handgun and took cash had fled the scene by the time police arrived at the 5600 block of University Avenue NE on Dec. 17.
- An officer confirmed a report of a damaged traffic light at Highway 65 and Mississippi Street NE on Dec. 17 and referred the problem to MnDOT.
- An officer advised the sister of a caller in the 1600 block of 73rd Avenue NE to stop leaving rude voicemail messages while drunk.
- Police arrested a driver for driving while intoxicated with an open container Dec. 18 after the vehicle changed lanes without signaling in the 6200 block of University Avenue NE.
- An officer on patrol saw that an accident had happened Dec. 18 in the 6500 block of University Avenue NE and took a driver into custody for driving under the influence.
- An intoxicated male was taken to detox Dec. 18 after police responded to a report of a possible domestic incident in the 700 blok of Bennett Drive NE.
- A report of a dog bite on Dec. 18 and another in November in the 6200 block of East River Road led to the dog being quarantined at a vet clinic.
- A Dec. 18 accident in the 300 block of Osborne Road led to a citation for one of the drivers for a permit violation and lack of proof of insurance.
- A Dec. 18 accident with property damage near University and 81st avenues NE resulted from one driver's foot slipping.
- Officers who were called Dec. 18 to check on an apartment in the 300 block of 74th Avenue NE to check on screaming and crying children advised three children playing to help their mother pick up the apartment.
- Police responded to a report from the 200 block of Ironton Street NE of finding opened and emptied mail from the 500 block of Fairmont Street NE.
- A male Dec. 18 arrested for stealing $194.50 of store merchandise resisted arrest and pushed store security staff, then was tackled by a customer before fleeing the Target store on 53rd Avenue.
- A reported Dec. 18 theft of copper wire from the Menards store on Central Avenue was forwarded for investigation as it appears to be related to thefts in other cities.
- A complainant said his laptop and computer bag were stolen from his vehicle, which had been parked, unlocked, in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart store on University Avenue on Dec. 18.
- There were no injuries at a Dec. 18 crash with property damage in the 5700 block of East River Road.
- Police issued a case number by phone to a caller from the 7100 block of University Avenue who said someone had drugged her alcoholic drink on Dec. 18.
- A female caller from the 150 block of 83rd Avenue reported being stalked by another female on Dec. 18.
- An officer responding to a Dec. 18 call to check on the welfare of a child in the 5900 block of 2-1/2 Street NE found the child to be fine.
- K-9 Nitro did not detect anything when requested Dec. 18 to sniff the outside of a car in the 4400 block of University Avenue.
- Police arrested a driver with an outstanding warrant on Dec. 19 in the 5600 block of University Avenue NE during a traffic stop for an obstructed rear license plate.
- Three windows of a car in the 1000 block of North Circle NE were smashed out on Dec. 19.
- An extremely intoxicated male was taken to Detox from the 7100 block of University Avenue NE.
- A renter in the 6000 block of Main Street NE got a warning about a loud gathering on Dec. 19.
- No one was arrested or cited after two people went home from the 7500 block of Lakeside Road NE where there was a report of people being loud on Dec. 19.
- Police responded to a reported domestic dispute Dec. 19 in the 1200 block of Cheri Lane NE.
- A bird inside a business in the 250 block of 57th Avenue NE apparently set off a motion-detecting burglar alarm on Dec. 19.
- A complainant in the 200 block of Christenson Way NE reported a bank account being emptied by unknown persons via the Internet on Dec. 19.
- A garage door being open since the previous day prompted a call from the 6100 block of Stinson Boulevard NE. Officers shut the door and left a message with a real-estate agent listed as having the house for sale.
- A car was towed and owner cited after a Dec. 19 parking complaint from the 7600 block of Madison Street NE.
- There was a traffic accident with property damage Dec. 19 at University Avenue and Mississippi Street.
- Police responded to a Dec. 19 call from the 6300 block of Baker Avenue NE, where one male reported that another male who had threatened him was outside. The second male told police he was verifying the house number for a lawsuit.
- A male and female were issued misdemeanor complaints Dec. 19 for stealing $69.13 in store merchandise from the Menards store on Central Avenue
- Police helped with traffic control at the scene of a Dec. 19 fire in the 7600 block of Highway 65.
- A juvenile reported missing Dec. 19 from the 600 block of Osborne Road NE was found.
- Police helped another agency stop a stolen vehicle Dec. 19 in the 6000 block of University Avenue NE.
- Police responding to a report of a domestic dispute and a pregnant female whose water broke on Dec. 20 determined that no assault had occured. An ambulance took the female to the hospital.
- Police responded Dec. 20 to a report of a vehicle having been stolen from a driveway in the 7200 block of East River Road.
- Police responded Dec. 20 to a report of a vehicle having been stolen from the 7400 block of West Circle NE.
- Items worth about $5,000 were reported stolen Dec. 20 from two garages at a property in the 900 block of Hathaway Lane NE.
- A Dec. 20 caller reported break-ins to three unlocked vehicles in a driveway on 63-1/2 Way NE in which nothing was stolen or damaged.
- A Dec. 20 traffic stop in the 6400 block of University Avenue resulted in an arrest for driving with a cancelled license.
- A caller reported Dec. 20 that someone had entered his unlocked car parked in his driveway in 64th Way NE, with no damage or items stolen.
- A Dec. 20 caller from the 100 block of Osborne Road reported a former employee making more than $26,000 in charges on a company credit card.
- Two juvenile females were arrested and released to parents after police responded Dec. 20 to a fight in the 6000 block of Fifth Street NE.
- A Dec. 20 caller from the 6400 block of Central Avenue NE asked to have threats by her boyfriend documented. The suspect denied making threats.
- An officer responding to a Dec. 20 report of an accident in the 7200 block of University Avenue NE pursued a vehicle that sped away from the scene, pushing the vehicle into a snowbank and arresting the driver for fleeing police, driving after cancellation of license and hit-and-run.
- A Dec. 20 caller reported tools and papers taken from a vehicle parked unlocked in the 7400 block of Central Avenue.
- A driver reported a Dec. 20 hit-and-run in the 5300 block of Central Avenue NE.
- An officer mediated a Dec. 20 dispute between tenants in the 5300 block of until the landlord arrived.
- An officer on patrol saw that a traffic accident had taken place Dec. 20 at 53rd Avenue and Seventh Street NE and arrested one driver for not having a license.
- No one answered the door when police responded to a Dec. 20 call from a female who said a person at the address in the 400 block of Mississippi Street NE had yelled at her.
- A female dog without collar or tags was impounded from the area of Lakeside and Osborne roads NE on Dec. 20.
- Three to six females shoplifters reported Dec. 20 had left the CVS store on University Avenue by the time officers arrived.
- A suspected shoplifter at the Holiday store on 57th Avenue had left when police arrived.
- A female asking customers for money in a restaurant parking lot in the 5200 block of Central Avenue NE on Dec. 20 left and was told future incidents would be trespassing.
- Responded Dec. 20 to a report of damage and possible theft from a garage in the 5700 block of East River Road.
- An accident on Dec. 20 at Highway 65 and West Moore Lake Drive with damage and injuries resulted in the arrest of one driver for criminal vehicular operation.
- A vehicle slid off University Avenue near 73rd Avenue NE on Dec. 21, ending up in the ditch. No injuries.
- A person was arrested Dec. 21 for violating the noise ordinance and obstructing the legal process after police responded to a report of a possible domestic situation going on for 90 minutes in the 5700 block of 2-1/2 Street.
- Two thefts were reported from vehicles Dec. 21 in the 100 block of Hartman Circle NE.
- A male who was angry that snow plowing in a lot keeps him awake was cited for disorderly conduct Dec. 21 in the 300 block of Osborne Road NE due to shouting profanities and making threatening hand gestures.
- A complainant reported Dec. 21 that someone had been through his vehicle overnight in the 100 block of Hartman Circle NE, with nothing taken or damaged.
- A CD player worth $300 was stolen from a car Dec. 21 in the 7800 block of East River Road, according to a complaint.
- An accident caused when one driver reached for his windshield wipers rear-ended another vehicle resulted in $900 damage Dec. 21 in the 7000 block of Highway 65.
- A complainant in the 6600 block of Lucia Lane reported receiving a call Dec. 21 from a fictitious business demanding information and threatening default on a non-existent loan.
- A caller reported that his iPhone and Christmas gifts worth $460 were stoen from his vehicle Dec. 21 in the 100 block of Hartman Circle NE.
- A complainant reported Dec. 21 that his bank account showed an unauthorized charge of $26 for long-distance service in Wyoming from a phone company that may not exist.
- A complainant said $475 worth of jewelry and hygiene items were stolen Dec. 21 from a vehicle parked in the 1100 block of Osborne Road NE.
- A complainant in the 5800 block of East River Road on Dec. 21 said someone has made unauthorized purchases with her missing check card.
- Officers responded to a Dec. 21 report of a possible domestic dispute in the 5600 blok of East River Road found a man with stab wounds in his torso and took a female into custody for assault.
- An American Express card stolen with a wallet in Columbia Heights Dec. 20 was used at the Wal-Mart on University Avenue on Dec. 21.
- Two women were cited for shoplifting at the Wal-Mart on University Avenue Dec. 21.
- A female was arrested for assault on Dec. 21 in the 5400 block of Seventh Street NE.
- A man complaining loudly about the price of gas at the Freedom station on University Avenue Dec. 21 was told he would be considered trespassing there.
- A caller in the 7400 block of Oakley Street NE complained about neighbor children sledding into her yard.
- A possible hit-and-run on Dec. 21 at the corner of Osborne Road and University Avenue NE left very minor damage and no injuries.
- Police received an online report Dec. 21 of theft of papers from a vehicle parked in a driveway on 63-1/2 Way NE.
- A vehicle apparently damaged by another vehicle was towed from the area south of Beech Street and 79th Avenue NE on Dec. 22.
- Officers responding to a Dec. 22 report from Seventh Street near I-694 of two small children running in the street brought the children home.
- Eyeglasses were stolen from a car parked in a driveway on the 100 block of Hartman Circle NE, according to a complaint.
- A sewer camera system and a trailer were stolen from the 7700 block of Beech Street NE.
- A minor crash at University Avenue and Osborne Road Dec. 22 resulted in lack-of-insurance citations for both drivers.
- A male driver was arrested Dec. 22 at 57th Avenue and Third Street NE on a warrant and for driving with a suspended license.
- A woman agreed to stop screaming at her fiancé Dec. 22 after police responded to a report of a loud domestic dispute in the 100 block of 79th Way NE.
- Leasing signs in the 6200 block of University Avenue were vandalized with graffiti Dec. 22.
- A male was warned on Dec. 22 against soliciting money from the roadway at 57th and University avenues NE.
- Police did not find children sledding into traffic lanes on Dec. 22 at Central Avenue and Fireside Drive as a caller had reported.
- A driver reported another vehicle driving recklessly Dec. 22 in the area of Osborne and East River roads.
- A woman was arrested for theft Dec. 22 at the Target store on 53rd Avenue NE.
- A con artist stole $37 by tricking an employee with a confusing request for change Dec. 22 at the Subway restaurant on University Avenue.
- Police transported an intoxicated male who was not welcome at an address in the 6300 block of Fifth Street NE to detox on Dec. 22.
- Police located a customer who left without paying for her meal at the Applebees restaurant on Central Avenue. She paid what she had. Police brought her home.
- On Dec. 22 a female reported her boyfriend had displayed a butter knife but didn't threaten her in the 200 block of 79th Way.
