Luke "Mippey5" Thompson, a member of the 2010 Wifflin' for Wishes champion Fridley Factor wiffleball team, explains what's behind the sport and the cause at last weekend's backyard tournament in Fridley.

It all leads up to the big Wifflin' for Wishes tournament in Hopkins on June 9. Here's how the event is described at Hopkins Patch:

Wifflin' For Wishes is a one day wiffleball tournament that benefits Make-A-Wish Minnesota. Entering its 8th year, the number of teams entered in the tournament has grown each year, and has resulted in over $25,000 donated!

This year's event takes place on June 9 at Central Park. For $100, teams of 3-5 players will be guaranteed at least 4 games and will receive a tournament t-shirt. In addition to wiffleball, there will be live music, raffles, prizes for best dressed team and best team name.

The entry deadline is June 4, so join us a for a fun filled day and remember... IT'S FOR THE KIDS!!!

Dolly, I believe the Fridley wiffle ball games were in a backyard along Rice Creek. I'm not sure the exact address or block. The actual tournament in June is at a public park in Hopkins.
