Fridley Man Struck and Killed on I-35W in Richfield
Hamed E. Nahi Alsaady, 51, was dead at the scene, the Minnesota State Patrol said.
A Fridley man died Friday evening on I-35W when a car struck him as he was alongside his semi trailer truck checking a blown tire, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Hamed E. Nahi Alsaady, 51, was dead at the scene on the right shoulder of southbound I-35W at 66th Street S. in Richfield, an online State Patrol report said.
A 1997 Dodge Stratus, driven by Joselyn L. Racine, 21, of St. Paul, drifted to the right, striking the semi and its driver, according to the report. Her injuries were minor.
The Star Tribune, citing a state patrol spokesperson, reported that preliminary indications were that "momentary distraction" on Racines' part caused the crash.
The newspaper also listed the victim's full name as Hamed Eliawy Nahi Alsaady.
The state patrol report listed the role of alcohol, if any, as unknown. Damage to the 2005 Volvo semi trailer truck was minor, the state patrol said, and none was reported to the Stratus.
