Kicking off the week is the annual Fridley Fire Department Open House at Fire Station No. 1 at Fridley City Hall on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, 11 a.m.–3 p.m.

Activities include squad car rides, live-burn demonstration, auto extrication with the "Jaws of Life," a bounce house, fire extinguisher demos, and the opportunity to get into fire equipment, fire trucks, police cars and public works vehicles.

Yes, there will be Dalmation dogs.

There will also be snacks, many other activities for kids and safety information for all ages.
