Red Bull Crashed Ice is returning to St. Paul Jan. 24–26, 2013, but if you think you have what it takes to race down the most technical track in ice cross downhill history, you’ll want to be at the Xcel Center on Sunday.

Athletes wishing to qualify for Red Bull Crashed Ice–Saint Paul—as Fridley's Clint Massey did last year—must battle one-on-one in a time trial for the opportunity to earn a spot on Team USA. The time trial is Sunday, Jan. 6 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. The morning session begins at 9 a.m. The afternoon session starts at 3 p.m.

Red Bull Crashed Ice is expanding to five stops worldwide this year. The United States race in St. Paul on Jan. 24–26 will be the most technical track in the sport's history.

Athletes, from a variety of disciplines including hockey, downhill skiing, speed skating and boardercross, will qualify to duke it out down an intimidating track in full ice cross downhill gear.

Competitors will race on a simulated track to qualify. During the main event at the end of January, the competitors will race up to 40 mph down steep ice canals with jumps, obstacles and hairpin bends—until the first two cross the finish line and advance to the next round.

This bracketed madness will continue until the final chapter when the four remaining competitors race to the bottom to crown the champ.

The best score will be used to identify the best of the best, which will produce the final list of participants for the United States finale event in St. Paul, MN Jan. 24-26.
