Calvin Christian High School Class of 2011 Celebrates Graduation
Nine seniors earned their diplomas at a well-attended ceremony.
The Calvin Christian High School auditorium was the scene of laughter and tears, looking back and looking forward, as nine graduating seniors received their diplomas Friday evening, June 3, in the presence of several hundred friends and family.
The CCHS band and choir performed, and graduating senior Alex Vo contributed a piano solo.
Molly Barry and Katlyn Lessner gave the senior address, which consisted of amusing and insightful snapshot portraits of their fellow graduates.
Each year the commencement speaker is chosen by the senior class. They said the choice was most difficult, but this year they decided on Arlan Koppendrayer, student advisor and Bible and civics instructor.
Koppendrayer spoke of the need not only for intelligence but for a love for God.
One by one, the seniors took the stage to receive their diplomas from the school staff, who had words of encouragement and a verse of Scripture for each of them.
After a formal introduction of the class of 2011, the graduates formed a receiving line in the foyer where there were many well-wishers, more laughter and a few more tears.
